EU Safety & Security Declarations Start This Month

From January 31st, Entry Summary Declarations (ENS) must be submitted when importing goods from the EU into the UK, with the information to be used to protect citizens and Great Britain from illicit goods such as drugs and weapons.

Carriers or hauliers who move goods across the UK’s borders will be legally responsible for submitting the Safety and Security declarations, although they can agree for a third party to submit declarations on their behalf.

Safety and Security declarations have applied to imports from non-EU countries since 2011.

The MultiShed system will support the transmission of Entry Summary (ENS) declarations for EU imports from this date, and we have been rolling out releases in the past few weeks. This new add on module is being provided free of charge to existing customers.

It is important that customers enrol their EORI for S&S Declarations. More information on what to do beforehand is available here and HMRC’s guide can be viewed here.
