Felixstowe Set For Eight Day Strike

Port workers at the Felixstowe port have set dates for their expected strike, and are planning to walk out from Sunday 21st August until Monday 29th August.

Members of the Unite Union held a ballot recently and 92% voted to strike following a dispute over pay. In the latest round of talks the port is understood to have raised its offer from a 5% to 7% rise, but Unite have refused, suggesting this is still effectively a pay cut.

A strike at Felixstowe, the UK’s largest container port, will undoubtedly cause major disruption to many of the UK’s supply chains. We very much hope a resolution can be found in time.
