During September, the government confirmed that new procedures covered by the Windsor Framework were to be delayed from September 30th of this year, and asked that businesses be fully prepared for them by March 31st next year.
Interestingly, they stopped short of saying they would ‘actually’ be introduced in March. However, with the new target in mind, HMRC have prepared a fact sheet which contains important information to help businesses prepare for B2B parcels movements from Great Britain to Northern Ireland by this new deadline date.
The factsheet covers what the new arrangements are for B2B parcels, where these would apply and the importance of applying for UK Internal Market Scheme (UKIMS) authorisation. Details can be found here underneath the covering letter.
You can also visit the GOV.UK website to:
- find out how to apply for UKIMS authorisation and the requirements they will need to meet
- read the statutory guidance for businesses sending parcels to Northern Ireland
Additionally, HMRC will be hosting a webinar on 21 November 2024 covering parcel movements under the Windsor Framework. You can register to attend this webinar to find out what you’ll need to know.
