UK Ports May Be Impacted By Upcoming Strike

According to HMRC, the upcoming Civil Service strike may be set to impact customs at the UK’s airports, container ports and ro-ro ports.

Up to 100,000 civil service employees are set to walk out for 24 hours, over jobs, pay and working conditions. HMRC staff are not involved in the strike, but Home Office personnel are, and that includes Border Force.

HMRC have reportedly advised that the movement of goods through UK ports and airports could be disrupted from Wednesday 1st February through to Thursday lunchtime 2nd February, which also includes UK Border controls in Calais, Dunkirk and Coquelles.

The strike is also expected to impact travel through the UK’s airports and passenger terminals during this period.
